It is so easy to over complicate things that are important to us, and 'spin' on situations we are not happy with.
It happens to all of us.
Your life tends to be limited by your thoughts about it.
So, how can we change this?
A way is to ask yourself, "How can I flip this thinking?"
....or "How can I make this happen?"
.....or "How can I change this?"
Here are some ways, that I encourage you to try, to make living your life a little easier (if you find these helpful, you could potentially write them on a piece of paper and stick them up on your wall):
- Over complicating...to....Simplifying
- Getting upset by feedback....to.....being open to well meaning feedback & learning
- Overthinking/anxiety/worry....to....Breathing faith & love, in & out, over & over
- Staying still and feeling bad....to....Moving your body and creating better feelings
- Spending more than you earn....to....Saving more than you spend
- Focusing on my own issues constantly...to....helping someone else
- Being bored...to....Being in unlimited creativity
- People wont pay for my work...to....People will pay for and value my work
- It's hard to make money....to...I can find ways to make more if I really want to
There are so many more, but the point is, when you catch yourself thinking this way, play the game of..............................flipping your thinking!!
It is fun to do this with a friend or colleague or family member in this process as a third party can offer some much needed clarity around 'other ways' to look at situations.
I remember going to look at a something that I really liked and wanted, but it was expensive, and I immediately thought...'I can't afford it'.
Then I caught myself and asked the question...."How could I make this happen"?
A friend's name popped into my head and I thought, "maybe he could buy in with me."
Anyway, I called him and talked him through it, showed him all the details and we decided to go for it, together.
We are both happy we did that, to this day.
Limited, fearful thinking happens to all of us at times....and it has a purpose....to ensure we look at the risks, as there are always risks and consequences.
We just have to way those risks up against the potential upside.
We are going to have to be prepared to learn as we go, to make mistakes, even if we have the best of intentions.
It's not always going to be easy.
It's going to take work.
It is going to take research and talking to others who know more about it so we can make informed decisions.
The more we learn, the better decisions we can make.
It's going to take commitment, which is why it is important to set a goal that aligns with our highest values.
It's going to be hairy at times!
It could very well scare the heck out of us.
The more we keep our vision of what we want to create and commit to taking actions towards the outcomes we want to achieve, the closer we will move towards them.
The time that we feel the 'happiest' is just before we reach the goal (I was talking with someone about this the other day).
....it is not once the goal is achieved, which is why, just before finishing the goal, it is a good time to start thinking about what your next goal is going to be so you keep your momentum going.
